Japanese Zen scrolls are cool. So is sitting. So is Roshi Pat Enkyo O'Hara.

Part of my practice as the numerical year turns has been reflecting on my intention and bringing it into action. I'm recommiting to my own practice and to offering help and encouragement to anyone who wants to practice meditation. My intention is to sit more and to sit with more people this year.

What a lovely opportunity presents itself tomorrow, Saturday, January 8, at the Japan Society.

I've written about the wonderful show of Hakuin scrolls there, and tomorrow Roshi Pat Enkyo O'Hara, of the Village Zendo, will be leading a discussion on the life and teachings of Hakuin Ekaku [16th c. super-cool Zen biggie, reviver of Rinzai sect and guy famous for the koans] followed by a meditation session at the Japan Society Gallery.
