Shambhala Publications seeking essays from dharma practitioners <35 y.o.

I'm compiling a project for Shambhala Publications called "35<35." It is meant to provide an opportunity for younger practitioners of all Buddhist sanghas to express themselves, find each other, and strengthen a sense of sangha regardless of dharmic affiliation.

I am looking for personal essays from practitioners under 35 years old on what it is like to try to live the dharma--at home, school, work, and in relationships of all kinds; as artists, students, friends, lovers, and seekers.

As editor of the project, I will read each submission. All appropriate works will be posted to our website, https://www.35u35.com/ and 35 essays will be selected for publication in a digital and/or print book.

Also, I'll submit the final 35 to The Shambhala Sun and Tricycle who may (NO guarantees!) be interested in possibly publishing one or more.

I'm looking for work that is personal (as mentioned), has a point of view, and a clear voice. You don't have to be a "writer" to meet these qualifications. If your work is genuine and heartfelt but you are not the world's greatest grammarian, fear not. I will help you out.

Topics could include:

Awakening.

Art.
Creativity

Dharma. (Of course.)

Love.

Meditation.

Sex.

Social Media.

Teacher-Student Relationship.

Work.

You can be a brand new practitioner or a veteran. Please feel free to bring your faith and doubt, clarity and confusion, hope and fear. Above all, I want this book to be real.

The deadline for submissions is November 1, 2011.

More information can be found on the site, especially in the "About" section: https://www.35u35.com/about/

Potential Interest....

I am interested in what you are offering to put together. I will look at the website you mentioned, but had a quick question, if you have time to respond. I do a lot of writing, some of which I have "blogged" on here, and included some art work and images. If you get a chance, and have the time, may you take a look at my blog, art. etc...to see if it is even good enough or clear enough to try to enter? I know you are probably very busy, but if you get the chance, it would be an honor! I also wanted to ask you about editing..do you do that or do we do that before we put in an entry?

Looking foreword to hearing more about this!
